Gilles Montezin Bridal is a luxury, high-end bridal design company that wanted to debut its bridal line to the media during Bridal Market and garner press for winter/spring ’10 timeframe. Bridal Market is held every April and October and comparable to Fashion Week, designers display their lines to the media and retailers.
The Challenges:
- Publicizing a relatively unknown/unproven brand in the oversaturated wedding fashion market
- Gaining entry into the competitive high-end luxury market, a category which is currently reserved for well-known brands such as Vera Wang, Amsale and Monique Lhullier
- Finding the appropriate story angles to generate enough pre-launch buzz to gain the attention of media to ensure a strong showing during Bridal Market
The Goals:
- Cultivating relationships with 3-4 Editors of the major bridal publications
- Garnering media placements and editorial spreads in 25 bridal and lifestyle publications
- Generating exposure for the line with a niche group of retailers
- Introduce the line to brides-to-be to create some awareness for the new offering
The Results:
- Over 10.5 million media impressions
- Pre-Bridal Market: Achieved 40+ media placements including Grace Ormonde, Brides and The Knot
- A one-month rotation of an ABC Eyewitness News television segment aired in NYC taxi cabs post-bridal market
- Active engagement via social media -- editors and reporters took to Twitter to post photographs of the dresses during the launch party
- Interest from major bridal retailers and brides-to-be
