40th Annual Football Classic Honors Tradition, Community and the Future

 

New York, NY (August 24, 2011) – Football fans and tailgaters alike will find themselves at  New Meadowlands Stadium  on September 24, 2011 to watch the Howard University Bison take on the Morgan State University Bears as part of the 40th annual New York Urban League Football Classic. New York, NY (June 27, 2011) – In 1971, with the help of George Steinbrenner the New York Urban League (NYUL) hosted its first Football Classic at Yankee Stadium.  The purpose of the game was to generate funds for NYUL’s Whitney M. Young, Jr. Scholarship Fund and create a signature event that the local community could support for a good cause. Read more »

10-day Trip to Raise  HIV/AIDS Awareness Among Local Youth

 

New York, NY (June, 23 2011) –  Like clockwork, public school students around the city are counting down the days to the last day of school to kick-off their summer vacation.  For the students at Harlem Educational Activities Fund (HEAF), this countdown is even more significant. On June 24th, sixteen student ambassadors will head to Gaborone, Botswana as part of the Learning Social Impact program to focus on HIV/AIDS. Read more »
