The Wakeman Agency is pleased to announce the receipt of the Public Relations Society of America’s Gold Medal – for a Media Relations Campaign 2014.
White Plains, NY, June 10, 2014 – The Wakeman Agency, an event management and public relations firm headquartered in New York City was recognized by the Public Relations Society of America with a Gold Medal for a media relations campaign. The campaign recognized the efforts of the agency on behalf of UCLA’s Civil Rights Project/Proyecto Derechos Civiles (CRP) for the launch of New York State‘s Extreme School Segregation: Inequality, Inaction and a Damaged Future.
CRP has long studied school segregation all over the country. Knowing that New York City operates the largest public school system in the country, CRP required a public relations firm with the know-how and experience to create awareness for their findings with a focus on garnering attention from key stakeholders such as advocacy groups, elected officials and parents – The Wakeman Agency was the ideal choice. The Wakeman Agency’s tactical plan successfully generated a dialogue among the involved parties with the goal of addressing educational disparities and creating more equitable learning environments.
In a very abbreviated timeframe, The Wakeman Agency was able to ramp up and execute a campaign focused on CRP’s goals. The campaign included a virtual press conference designed to allowed CRP spokespeople to communicate directly with journalists from national outlets explaining the details of the report, data collection methodologies and recommendations. The press conference and release of the report resulted in placement in 70 plus outlets and inspired the desired dialogue.
“We are delighted to have played a supporting role in helping to create a national conversation concerning segregation within the New York State school system. Being recognized for our efforts by the Public Relations Society of America with a Gold Medal for the campaign is truly an honor,” Vanessa Wakeman, CEO of The Wakeman Agency.
This is The Wakeman Agency’s second Gold Medal. The first was awarded in 2011 for a campaign for Gilles Montezin Bridal.
