In 2005, The Wakeman Agency started working with Workshop in Business Opportunities (WIBO), a New York-based nonprofit organization that helps enable small business owners and budding entrepreneurs through its signature workshop – a sixteen-week program that can be likened to a mini-MBA. During this program, attendees from underserved communities gain foundational business knowledge in critical subject areas such as sales, finance, human resources and customer service.
Each year, WIBO celebrates the achievements of its alumni at the organization’s anniversary gala, commemorating their collective successes, while further providing a forum for networking and energizing current and past workshop participants. It was in the midst of planning their 39th anniversary gala when The Wakeman Agency was asked to partner with WIBO, helping to invigorate and amplify this annual celebration of entrepreneurship.
Our event planning expertise helped WIBO create a scalable fundraising model that helped them attract more sponsors and increase engagement among existing supporters. For several years, The Wakeman Agency had the privilege of working with WIBO, raising the profile of the organization’s gala – and ultimately secured Daymond John of ABC’s Shark Tank as an honoree at their 45th anniversary (pictured above).
