According to the Harvard Business Review, more than 100 studies found that the most engaged employees — those who report they’re fully invested in their jobs and committed to their employers — are significantly more productive, drive higher customer satisfaction and outperform those who are less engaged. The Review also stated that “….in a nutshell, the ideal is a place where individual differences are nurtured; information is not suppressed or spun; the company adds value to its employees, rather than only extracting it from them; the organization stands for something meaningful; the work itself is intrinsically rewarding; and there are no stupid rules.”
[tweet bird=yes] This is truly what The Wakeman Agency is all about – being a great place to work by creating a fun culture and encouraging employee input every step of the way. [/tweet] I’ve been with the events planning and PR firm since 2014, and this is unlike most workplaces I’ve ever encountered – and I mean that in the best of ways. For 12 years, The Wakeman Agency has not only changed lives and transformed communities through social-change engagements; the Agency has also provided incredible opportunities for professionals at all levels. And I’m thankful to be among that select group.
It all stems from our leadership. “What is your take on that issue?” or “What is your idea?” are questions that CEO and founder Vanessa Wakeman, our boss, poses very often during planning meetings. And she’s not asking these questions for the sake of appearances or as a matter of procedure. Vanessa really cares about and values our experience, expertise and advice. From our interns and administrative staff to long-time employees and senior-level advisers, our opinion matters. The enthusiasm and empowerment we feel, in turn, help our clients run more successful, productive events and campaigns. Members of The Wakeman Agency team are not only motivated by how well we are treated; we all share a sense of purpose and investment in our mission of making the world a better place through social change. [tweet bird=yes] We know that our work really matters, and it’s hard to put a price tag on that. [/tweet]
Here, we are entrusted to perform our jobs. Vanessa creates such a unique workplace culture by allowing employees to take complete ownership of each and every project, while maintaining an open and collaborative environment. Micromanagement is not a word you’ll hear uttered in our offices or see in action over the course of a workday. Vanessa has high expectations and provides the tools to succeed. She balances the good, the not-so-good and the neutral; in fact, Vanessa has an uncanny ability to acknowledge mistakes and celebrate accomplishments in the same sentence.
The Wakeman Agency is a place to grow – we deepen awareness of important social issues; we expand charitable funds raised for needed causes; and we develop and evolve as professionals all the while, often by leaps and bounds. Succeeding and growing both personally and professionally is good for us, our clients and social change. How much better can it get? We grow as people, employees, members of a team, accomplishing and producing unparalleled results for our clients and communities.
